For years, I carried a picture in my head that would not let me go — a foggy, lamp-lit bookshop on a quiet, cobblestoned street, warm and full of stories, where a dashing owl in a top hat watched wisely from the eaves and a black cat caused magnificent trouble (and a little bit of magic) frolicking in and out of the stacks.
I've spent more than two decades in publishing working as a ghostwriter, managing editor, and editorial/publishing strategist — including 12+ years working with a New York Times bestselling author. I know what it takes to bring a book to life. I know what the industry doesn't always tell you. And I know how much writers need a warm, knowledgeable place to land and escape from the world.
The Foggy Bottom Bookery is that place.
Manuscript coaching. Publishing insider knowledge. Book recommendations. Writing craft. And eventually, a book club ... because every good bookery needs one.
But more importantly, it's a place for you to exhale. To escape. To be educated, perhaps. To be encouraged, of course. To rejuvenate when the writing gets tough and the block just won't let up. The place where you'll hopefully find your creative spark again.
